Through the use of family dynamics this video teaches the trial and tribulations of the Federal Reserve Chairperson who oversees the bank of the United States. The video demonstrates how stressful the job is in that he must maintain full employment, keep prices steady and determine interest rates for people buying homes; like a really tricky three way see-saw. In order to stimulate the economy the chairperson can buy more bonds in order to stimulate the economy. This is similar to adding food to a buffet for a set amount of people. They are going to eat more, because there is more. The Chairperson must respond to the regional banks and the board members and it is often believed that the chairperson is run by "puppet masters" who are feeding them ideas.
I really enjoyed this video. It helped me to understand the Federal Reserve as well as the role of the Fed itself. I especially enjoyed the last bit at the end, where the girl is labeled at the "puppet master". I would hate to be the chairperson of the Federal Reserve. When it comes to money, everyone wants more, and you're automatically the bad guy if you can't supply it. I think that there could be a bit of reform to this position, for example it seems a little "insider" for the chairperson to only have to listen to the 7 people in his committee and the banks. When only one person is controlling the flow of money in an economy, they are especially prone to corruption and poor judgement. We are only human, after all.

Overall I thought this video was very interesting and informative. It really helped me to understand the role of the Chairman of the Federal Reserve. I enjoyed the way that they framed the video to encompass a family to very simply explain his role as Chairman and how regulating interest rates, keeping employment stable, and stimulating the economy. I liked how his daughter was explaining to him that he needs to stay calm and confident in his role in order to make sure that people are calm and trust what is going on in the economy; this in turn will cause them not to rush to the bank to pull out their money. I enjoyed the way they described that with him buying more bonds that everyone would be able to buy more things, therefore consumer spending would increase due to the purchase of bonds by the government. Lastly, I thought it was very clever to show at the end that his daughter was the "puppet master."
This was a very creative way of explaining what the federal reserve does. It gives you an other visual to help understand it better. It is interesting how much power the chairman has on his own. This video makes it seem that once the chairman is appointed, they do not have to answer to anyone, just please the majority of the population as well as the 7 chairs.
This video did an excellent job of depicting the Federal Reserve Chairman job. Each character plays their character well and helped me understand the chairman's role. I can't even imagine what it's like to actually perform a job like the FR Chairman's, especially with a "puppet master" whispering in your ear at all times.
I think we should get rid of the small business development side of banks and simply create a new industry based around creating start ups, supplied by the Fed and Federal government. With less of a profit incentive and focusing more on getting more people employed and collecting more tax revenue. Seems stupid to give banks money for cheap that they can just reinvest in themselves, pay debt with, or sell to the government at higher interest rates.
Simple and to the point. This is what he does. This is who he works with. Done. Oh, and there is always someone pulling the strings along the way. Enjoyable and informative film.
This video was quite entertaining to watch, even with its few weird snippets. Overall, it was quite informative about what the chairman of the Federal Reserve does. The ending with the girls backpack saying puppet master symbolizes that there is someone else in control, despite the chairman not having to report to the President of the United States. Regardless, it appears that the position of chairman of the Federal Reserve would be quite difficult, and one's actions could be greatly scrutinized. Overall, the film was entertaining and helped me to understand what the Federal Reserve does.
I didn't really understand what the role of the chairperson of the federal reserve was. I really didn't understand how important their job was and how much they could control. Now I understand how the federal reserve is a completely separate entity from the government (not influenced by the president or congress). But yet is still intertwined by providing testimony for stimulus packages and such. It's interesting to see how even parts of the economy that are completely separate end up working together to accomplish things.
Very entertaining video! I admire the Television show like approach. It was like watching an episode of Modern Family. However, the video did not time manage as well as it should. The video spent most of its time goofing off and then finally entering into some type of depth about the role of the Fed Chairman towards the end. I will not lie, the story line was cute and it kept me interested, but I felt like I was waiting and waiting for some type of punch line. Then it wasn’t till the end when she finally described his major objectives: maintain full employment, keep prices steady, and determine interest rates. I did find it interesting that the chairman of the Federal Reserve doesn’t have to answer to the president or the congress. Overall, the video did do a fine job at demonstrating the stress that comes with the job, and the “puppet master” was a nice twist in the end, but I wish I attained more information about the Federal Reserve itself.
I thought this was the worst of the economy videos that have been shared. The past few were much more entertaining and provided more detail on the different roles in the economy. This time I didn't feel like I walked away fully understanding what the chairman of the federal reserve does (and the daughter was super annoying...). This video made his job seem like a big deal in the sense that he basically controlled the flow of money, but it didn't explain HOW he would go about that.
This was a kind of confusing video to explain the position of chairman of the Federal Reserve, but it was still helpful in identifying the main job. I found it interesting that he does not need to report to the president or congress, one would assume that someone with this much influence would need to report to main political bodies. It was interesting that to make people not run and take out all of their money of banks, he needs to inspire confidence in the people and to stimulate the economy he must purchase bonds. Fascinating video, but a bit all over the place.
I thought this was an interesting, although not always completely clear or detailed video about what the Federal Reserve Chairman does. As "boss" of the Federal Banking system, the chairman is supposed to regulate the US economy. He makes major financial policy decisions without consulting the President or Congress (although he does have to report to the board of governors). His job includes safeguarding the banking system, controlling the money supply, maintaining full employment, keeping prices steady, and helping determine the interest rate. He can also buy bonds to stimulate the economy. I thought it was clever how they had his daughter's backpack say puppet master - as chairman are susceptible to influences.
It’s very important to understand these things if we want to be successful trader. But, it’s fortunate that we see newbies not focusing much on it. I have been rather lucky to have broker like OctaFX, as they help me massively to understand these things with their nice educational setup which covers it all while the conditions itself are amazing that makes it even better. I enjoy their low spreads, quick execution, daily news updates and much more, it all works highly in my favor.
